Disregarding the Wei prince’s comment, Lu Xun merely focused on dressing the wound, avoiding the man’s sharp eyes piercing into him. As much as the situation unnerved him, they were now allies - duty first, pride later. Differing ideals aside, the strategist refused to leave a wounded man unattended if he had the capacity to help. Finishing with the bandages, Lu Xun stepped back, neutral eyes meeting the prince’s piercing gaze.

“It would be best to be careful in the future,” he began, half-expecting a snide remark in return, but it was too late to retract his words. Rather, he softened his own gaze as he spoke, for now was certainly not the time for senseless arguments.

“Your men will begin to worry if you continue to push yourself like this.”

Good, he was done with it and away from him. Aside from his “partner in crime” as one may call it, being that close to someone donning such atrocious colours made him uncomfortable. Besides, he didn’t need to be the one to assist him.

If there was one thing he could appreciate, however, it was that Lu Xun didn’t appear to be doing it to kiss his ass and gain any favour. He was just doing it out of the sake of being a good person. It was almost disgusting.

❝—I am ever so thankful for your concern over my wellbeing,❞ he clearly felt the opposite, as his tone was anything but sincere. Lu Xun may be not interested in bickering, but Cao Pi wasn’t about to give him an easy time. ❝I am more than capable of handling myself, I simply happened to make an unnecessary error that will not be occurring a second time. You should be more worried about yourself.
