“Getting me out?” Lingqi echoed in a low voice, wary  of anyone that might hear when she spoke too loudly. The girl pondered his offer for long moments until he interjected.

The captive shot the prince a glare as she stood up. “If I ever realize you are deceiving me, whatever speed or power you may have will not save you.” She warned as she thrust her wrists before him. She was hesitant, but she knew how to fight without using her hands if the situation called for it anyway.

❝Why would I bother doing all this to deceive you, when I myself would get in trouble if discovered? I could be doing much better things with my time than this.❞ Once Lingqi stuck out her wrists, he firmly bound them together – he wasn’t foolish, and he knew she didn’t need them bound to get away, but it would at least make it more difficult if she tried anything. It was a mutual distrust between them, how wonderful.

❝Now, come with me. I am not going to hold your hand through this, so I expect you to stay close.❞ With that said, he ushered her out of the cell.

And now was where it became tricky. He’d taken a casual stroll earlier to memorize the quickest and most inconspicuous route to use, but he knew all too well that solid plans had the chance to go completely wrong. Then again, calling the plan ‘solid’ was far too much praise for it. From the bag again he took a silken hooded cloak and draped it over Lingqi’s shoulders, and fastened one of its knots so it would not fall off. After pulling up the hood to partly hide her face, he released a quiet sigh and turned around with the shake of his head.

This was such a stupid idea and he was quickly regretting it. On the plus side, it was very dark out – heaven forbid someone put something in the way earlier, otherwise he’d probably trip and fall flat on his face. An ever so graceful imagery of the prince.

Although that was all that was in the bag, he couldn’t toss it away yet – far too much evidence, given that the fabric is expensive. Cao Pi carefully approached the open street and glanced left and right, and crossed over to the alley ahead, and repeated the process into another.

❝Just so you know, anything that was confiscated cannot be returned to you. I don’t know where it is,❞ he said in a hushed tone. ❝We aren’t very far from the market district, and from there is a gate to the outside. The men stationed there have been on a shift for some time, so although the gate is closed, they should be fatigued by now. When we are close to it, I will remove the binds, and I’m certain you are capable of breaking out.

Briefly, he paused and looked back to her with a slight smirk. ❝I don’t particularly like you, but I hate the Yuan family even more. I was right about my presumption as to why they were keeping you here, so I want to see his face when he finds out you’ve gone again. Men like him do not deserve women like you.
